Info about "The South-West Tour Championship Series"
2012 is having some changes in the South-West Tour Series
The PRODUCT Manufacture Rule has been dropped for 2012 - ANY "ROAR" Legal Motor and Battery will be allowed for ALL 1c racing, except "Sportsman Truck" - this will continue to use a 5000mAh pack or lower.
Electronic
Speed Controls - Must be sensor based ESC's.
Important:
2
Cell Batteries must NOT be charged beyond 8.40 volts +/- .05 volts. (total
8.45v MAX)
1
Cell Batteries must NOT be charged beyone 4.20 volts
+/- .02 volts (total 4.22v MAX)
NOTE:
Batteries must NOT be over their MAX CHARGE at time of Race
Tech. If you are uncertain about your battery's voltage, bring it to tech
at least 2 races PRIOR to your heat race for an 'official' voltage check.
Batteries testing above MAX will not be run in that heat, and the driver will
forfeit that round of qualifying. If you come to Pre-Tech for the MAIN
EVENT with an overcharged battery, you will NOT race in the main, and WILL
FORFEIT all 'RACE' points, and will only be awarded participation points for
that race day.
Conduct Rules:
It
is hoped that all the SWTour events will be full of fun, excitement and good
competition.
Drivers
should not yell or cuss at other competitors, on or off the track.
Drivers
should not yell or cuss at corner marshals. In most cases the marshal did not
wreck your car - and he will try to help you.
Rough
driving, intentional contact will not be tolerated. Drivers should maintain a
fair amount of sportsmanship if/when accidents do happen.
Do
NOT leave the drivers stand during your race. If your car gets broken - stay on
the stand - quietly until the end of your race. Do not disrupt the other
drivers still on the stand.
On
the Track
Cars
on the track must be under control. Remember the heat races are just for
qualifying, and if your car can not be driven without spinning, flipping and/or
crashing it should be pulled from the track. 2008 will see the use of the BLACK
FLAG call more than in the past. If your car is affecting other drivers runs,
you need to pull it from the track. (This should be common sense )
Corner
Marshalling
All
racers are responsible to marshal - When your race is finished take your cars
to the TECH area and head to the track to marshal. PLEASE Do Not go all the way
to the pit area as this slows down the event because we have to WAIT ON YOU.
If
you can not marshal - YOU need to find someone to marshal FOR you. If you are
running ‘multiple classes’ and can not marshal the heat following your own -
MAKE arrangements for someone to marshal - and be expected to be called on the
VOLUNTEER when marshals are needed during the race day.
When
placing a car back on the track - DO NOT place it in the racing line.
(Especially at the Velodrome) The cars need to be safely placed out of the line
of traffic and the driver must safely bring it up to speed and blend into
traffic. Drivers also need to pay attention and stay above the bottom
racing line.
Tech
ALL
Cars need to go to PRE TECH & VOLTAGE Check before your car goes on the
track. Cars not passing PRE TECH may not be allowed to race. The
WINNER of each Heat will go to TECH immediately following your race. You will
be subject to DQ for that run if your car does not return to tech, or fails
inspectection.
General Car Rules
The SWTour Series hopes to emulate ‘Real Race Cars’ in
a small scale way.
General
appearance - Body. Our body rules are
pretty light. Bodies should be run that are similar to those run in NASCAR,
ARCA, ASA, etc. Bodies from the 1990’s to current may be run and do not require a
molded part number on the windshields.
Wings
or spoilers may be used. Spoilers used w/o a wing should be no more than 2.00”
tall from the surface of the decklid (on cars) and 2.50” tall from the surface
of the bed (on trucks) When a wing is used w/ a spoiler the spoiler should be
no more than .750” tall.
Wings
side dams should be no more than 2” tall and 3.75” long, and the wing should
not be wider than that bodies widest point. (At this time there are no mounting
restrictions)
Body
Height - roof heights will be 4.250” min height for stock cars on the velo, and
4.250” on short tracks. For trucks the min. roof height will be 4.500” on the
velo and 4.500” on the short tracks.
Windows
may NOT be cut out of bodies - no free passing air through the drivers
compartment area (like done on dirt cars)
Wheel
wells must be cut out to a minimum diameter of the actual wheel.
Bodies
may have the back section cut out, or left in.
Minor
‘flaring’ of fenders will be allowed - at tech’s discretion.
Wheel
Base - 9.75” min 11.25” MAX (Center of front axle to center of rear axle)
