This race was billed "Born to

"As FEATURED in RCWORLD Magazine"
The South-West Tour Series created the **Allstar-Shootout** in 2007 to be one of the most incredible, most extreme, fastest, thrill packed r/c oval races in the WORLD. This year along with the help of NOVAK ELECTONICS, DBAnderson Machine Technologies, Team ORION and all the other fantastic event sponsors we were able to deliver the 2nd annual **Shootout**.
The **Shootout Weekend** is part of the South-West Tour Series regular points events, and Saturdays events serve as both a WARM UP for the big shootout, and a points day for the support classes.
Saturday's Race winners
21.5 - Jerry Purser
17.5 - Larry Ruby
10.5 - Richard Tompkins
NASTRUCK - Brad Muther
On Sunday, all drivers in all the classes had the opportunity to run single car, 4 lap qualifying (INDY style) with the 4 lap average setting up the heat race starting positions. Last year this was only done for the 'pre-qualified' drivers in the **SHOOTOUT**
Eric Brust, for the 2nd year in a row took the TQ honor for the **SHOOTOUT** and locked into the pole for the races first segment. Along with the POLE position, Brust received a $50.00 cash award for his efforts.
The **Allstar Shootout** is a 2 segment race, but do to a computer issue the first segment was cut to just 15 laps. Although the drivers had no idea it would be shortened, it was probably a good thing it happened due to a whole lot of damage to many cars.
For the guys who got crashed out, this segment was UGLY, but those who were up front had a great battle and it was Larry Ruby just edging out last years Shootout Champion Eric Brust.
The Winner (Ruby) would receive $50.00 and a Gift Certificate for a brand new NOVAK 17.5 motor.

After the 1st segment concluded the support classes got to run their main events while the ALLSTARS went back to their pits to thrash and get their cars ready for the "BIG ONE"
In the 21.5 class, Buck Van Patten shattered the track record in his qualifier, and in the main he destroyed that time again. Van Patten would turn a 28/5:00.05 just missing the first ever 29 lap run in this class. Buck's win would get him $50.00 and some prizes.
Up next was the NASTRUCK main where Kevin Kilber would be handed the victory when the leader Brad Muther and Bryan Myers who was trying to get back on the lead lap, collided on the front straight and both spun. Muther was able to gather it up and still finish in the 3rd spot, Doug "Odie" Morrow would grab the 2nd spot the second day in a row. Kilber also received Cash and Prizes for his win, including a NEW Orion 3200 Lipo battery.
We had some added excitement this year in the way of our 'INTERNATIONAL' guests who traveled all the way from Japan to join our event. A special thanks goes to Yusuke - RCWorld Magazine.

Now onto the 'Big Show' - The starting grid is the
finishing order from segment one, and that puts LARRY RUBY and ERIC BRUST on the
front row. On the tone the cars got a great start, and the race was on.
Brust would lead the 1st lap with Ruby in hot pursuit and Erik Steenhoven was
just feet behind. Arnold Brittain joined the freight train in the 4th spot
and on the move from the back was Gary Hamilton who started shotgun on the field
after being the 1st car out of segment one.
Ruby would grab the lead and stay there until he got together with a back marker, but he only fell back to 3rd spot and was still running strong. Eric Brust would hold the point from there, but Ruby was still charging and closing on the front two (Brust and Steenhoven) .
The laps were quickly counting down, there were some great battles in the pack and almost 1/2 the field was still on the lead lap. Coming down to the final lap, Brust was leading when they came across the stripe, but Ruby was all over him, the two had a drag race down the back straight and into the final corners, coming to the FINISHLINE it was LARRY RUBY taking the win and becoming the NEW **ALLSTAR SHOOTOUT CHAMPION**.
$300.00 CASH and a certificate for a NEW NOVAK GTB Speed Control, was the winner's share of the $1300.00 cash awards, 2nd place went to Brust who earned $150.00 in cash and a Advantage Avionics LIPO Charger from Team Orion, 3rd place went to Erik Steenhoven, which paid $100.00, 4th was Hamilton earning $75.00 and Scot Petitclerc rounded out the top 5, earning $50.00.
