Mission Statement

Back in the late 60's when I was in grade school, my family would spend most of our summer Saturday nights at the Santa Maria Speedway on the beautiful central coast of California.   We sat on the old hill high above turn 1, back when it was just a dirt hill.   After a few years of being spectators, my father decided he wanted to try his hand at racing on the clay 1/3rd mile speedway. He acquired an old '56 Chevy bodied car that someone had put together and took to the track.  Although he was never a front runner, he competed at Santa Maria Speedway and Bakersfield Speedway most of the next several years.

Although I've never been able to afford to run a car of my own, I've loved autoracing for nearly 40 years.

I remember the "old days" and find it amazing there is not someplace other race fans can go to catch up on some old local racing history.  My goal is to change that.  This site I hope will always be a work in progress.  Every racing year, more history is created.  Therefore there should always be new additions available on this site.
